FAQs

Q: Are you insured to walk dogs professionally?
A: Yes. Bruce’s Dog Walking is insured to professionally walk and care for all pets. We are insured with specialist Animal Trade Insurers, Cliverton. Our insurance covers public liability; day care, custody and control of your pet; loss of keys and boarding.

Q: Are you licensed?
A: Yes. Bruce’s Dog Walking has obtained all of the licenses that are available to the business.  These include Multiple Dog Walking licenses from Wandsworth Council, as well as a license to keep a boarding establishment.

Q: Will I meet my dog walker?
A: Yes. Before taking you on as a client, Bruce will come and meet with you and your dog personally. This will give you the chance to get to know him, ask any questions you might have and find out how things work. Bruce will also discuss your preferences, vet contact details etc.

Q: Will my dog be supervised at all times?
A: Yes. Your dog will be under constant supervision by our team of experienced dog walkers at the Day Care Centre, and will NEVER be left unattended.

Q: Do I need to book in the same days each week?
A: Yes. There is a minimum booking of 1 day per week on an ongoing basis. This needs to be the same day each week, however it is possible to add additional days as required.

Q: I live outside of the areas you cover, can my dog attend?
A: Yes. It is possible for you to drop off and collect your dog from the day care centre. However, the spaces are very limited and only the half day service is available

Q: Do I need to be home when you collect or drop off my dog?
A: No. Most clients are comfortable sharing a set of keys with Bruce’s Dog Walking to enable us to collect and drop off your dog even if you are not home. All staff who have responsibility of client’s keys are CRB checked.

Q: I have a puppy, can he come to the Day Care Centre?
A: Yes. Bruce’s Dog Walking welcomes new puppies to our pack! The day care centre is the perfect environment for your puppy to grow and socialise. We accept puppies from as young as 12 weeks old or once they are out of their vaccination period. Please get in touch to find out more.

Q: What happens if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?
A: Bruce’s Dog Walking is very strict in only accepting social dogs. This ensures all of the dogs are happy in one another’s company, so it is unlikely your dog will not get on with another dog. In fact, the dogs usually form their own social groups with dogs at the centre who enjoy similar activities!

Q: Do you only accept well-trained dogs?
A: No. In fact, one of the reasons people choose Bruce’s Dog Walking is that our Day Care Centre often helps with training. Many owners have noticed improvement in their dog's behaviour after attending the Day Care Centre. However, we only accept social dogs that have no history of aggression.

Q: What happens in an emergency?
A: First we will assess the situation and call you to discuss. If we can’t get hold of you and urgent medical attention is required, we will take your dog to your nominated veterinary practice or, depending on the circumstance, the nearest veterinary practice.

Q: How much time will my dog spend in the van?
A: The Day Care Centre is located in Cobham, around a twenty-five minute drive from our catchment areas. We only take on clients who are based within very close proximity to our existing clients to ensure we minimise each dog’s time in the van. We never compromise on this!

Q: My dog doesn’t like crates or confined spaces, will he cope with travelling to and from the centre?
A: Yes. The crates are custom designed and have more space than necessary for even the bigger breeds. Very rarely do we find that the dogs have any issues with the van or crates, since it has a hugely positive association for them – it means they get to have a fun day running around with all of their friends!

Q: Can my dog stay at the Day Care Centre overnight?
A: No. Dogs cannot stay at the Day Care Centre overnight. If you require this service, we offer a pet sitting or boarding service. Please get in touch to find out more.

Q: Do you offer day care on the weekends and bank holidays?
A: The Bruce’s Dog Walking Day Care Centre only operates from Monday-Friday. However, upon request we do offer small group walks on weekends and bank holidays. Please get in touch to find out more.
